A True Paranormal Story on the Appalachian Trail
Thank you so much to Poppy the Masked Keaton for sharing his story on the show all about his experience on the Appalachian Trail. Here's just a snippet of the full story; listen for the full spooky tale!
"Earlier in the year, Carrie lost her cousin. It was her cousin’s wish to have her ashes spread around various locations because her illness made it difficult to travel.
It was for that reason that we decided to hike to the waterfall at Laurel Falls to spread her ashes. Tuesday morning we headed out. It was a great day for it. Carrie had her cousin’s ashes and we hit the trail.
It’s not an easy nor a short hike, but we were determined. The view at the end is worth it.
After a while, our group of five split up.
After 15 minutes, we see Tim standing in the trail next to a fallen tree and looking puzzled.
He said something grabbed my backpack. I was walking by this tree and something grabbed my backpack so hard I almost fell over."
Appalachian Mountains and the Fear of the Unknown
I will share some limited mundane, skeptical, naturalistic explanations for what could have happened on the Appalachian Trail. And then, as always, I will share some paranormal options.
You may be thinking that the Appalachian Mountains are so old that there must be some reason why humans are so scared of the Appalachian Mountains.
That maybe there’s something lurking there that’s not human.
And that it's some sort of like primal instinct that we have, that something is there and it's been there so long, that maybe there's something lurking there that's... not human.
Very spooky. Gives me goosebumps.
The Appalachian Trail, also called the AT, is a hiking trail in the eastern United States, extending almost 2200 miles. More than million people hike segments of the Appalachian Trail each year... so of course a good many of them have spooky experiences. What mountain range in America has as spooky as a reputation as Appalachia?! None, is the answer.
